Huipil
Huipil Sumpango, Sacatepéquez
Linguistic Community: Kaqchikel

This garment has a round neckline with colorful hand-embroidered flowers and geometrical figures. It is made with two cloth panels that are predominantly red with thin, yellow warp stripes.

During the 1960s, the over-huipil turned into a ritual garment worn by the women of the cofradía. Nowadays the huipil is used mostly on ceremonial occasions.
